Proverbs 13

“One who walks with wise people will be wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20

When I was young, foolish, and rebellious, I chose other foolish, rebellious people to hang out with. We did a lot of stupid things and made dumb decisions. I was a “companion of fools” (and so were there because I also was a fool!).

I am so thankful to God that He has taught me to be much wiser over the years. I am much more choosy about my friends these days!

"Saint Mary Magdalene" by Tara Vanessa Hall

John 20

What a sweet moment when Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene outside the empty tomb.

She was the first person to see him alive again — Mary Magdalene, the prostitute women Jesus had delivered from seven demons. Mary was perhaps the lowliest (by Jewish standards) of Jesus’ followers. Yet Jesus chose MARY MAGDALENE to see Him first.

This moves me so much.

Mary did not recognize Jesus until He says her name, “Mary!” (v.16)

He says her name. I hear such love and tenderness when Jesus says her name.

“Mary!”

And then her eyes are opened to recognize her beloved Jesus. And she clings to Him.

I also cling to Him. Me… the lowliest prodigal… delivered from demons… brought back to life from the dead.

I cling to Him.

AND HE SAYS MY NAME!
