In ancient Israel, priests’ very lives depended upon them being properly purified before entering the Holy of Holies in the Jewish Temple. They wore a rope tied around their ankle so in case they were struck dead their bodies could be pulled out of the sacred room. Understandably, they were very serious about their purification process!
Today our free access into the salvation through the blood of Christ can cause us to take this access for granted.
But the Holy of Holies, God Himself, has not changed. His requirement is still perfection. Jesus paid the ultimate cost to allow us access into the Holy of Holies. May we never underestimate His sacrifice!
