Luke 21
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be massive earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrible sights and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:10-11
Jesus gave a frightening picture of the future in Luke 21. Many people think we are now living in the end days that Jesus described in these verses. If so, then come Lord Jesus!!
But every generation since Jesus’ disciples have thought they were living in the end times. So I have no idea.
Jesus did not intend for us to know the exact date and time of His return otherwise He would have told us. He said the end would come when we aren’t expecting it, like a thief in the night. He intended for us to live as if the end could come at any time. He gave us instructions for HOW to live that way:
“…be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth. But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36
