Today: Psalms 80:1-7; Acts 23:12-35; 2 Kings 8:16-29; 2 Kings 9

Psalms 80

“Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.” Psalms 80:1-3

This is my daily prayer for our church, for our country, for the entire world… that God’s face would shine on us, that He would restore us, save us, and call us to Himself. COME, LORD JESUS!!!

Acts 23

God can do anything, use anyone or any situation He chooses to accomplish His will. In Acts 23, God used the Roman commander to not only protect Paul from the Jews were plotting to kill him, but also to send Paul on his way to Rome, the next place God wanted him to proclaim the gospel message.

God is still in charge today too. No matter how crazy things might seem in our world today, God is still on the throne working out His perfect plan. Don’t think for one second that the insanity around us indicates that God has lost control. Quite the contrary!

2 Kings 8-9

Wow, lots of death, murder, and treachery — ALL of it God’s prophecies fulfilled. God IS a God of justice. He does punish evil… it might not be in our preferred time frame… but He WILL punish evil. He IS in control and the wickedness we observe in the world today will not continue forever. Those who mock and deride God, the Ahabs and Jezebels, idolaters and witches, will some day be no more than “dung on the ground in the plot at Jezreel.” (v.9:36)
