(#TheChosen spoiler alert!)
I loved the sweet scene in episode 6 when Jesus heals Shula and Barnaby. The love between the two friends is so tender. Neither wanted to bother Jesus by asking Him to heal their own serious ailments. But they ask Jesus to heal their dear friend…
I was struck by the profound truth beneath the heartwarmth. “Ask and it will be given to you;” Jesus tells us in Luke 16:9, “Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
The enemy bullies his way into our lives through lies, manipulation, and deception. He does not ask politely.
Not so with God. He quietly, gently calls to us… inviting us to answer His call to come closer to Him. He always insists upon our freedom.
Sometimes, often, we wish He would force His will onto us. The Christian walk might be so much easier that way. But it would not be authentic.
And so God, the gentleman, waits for us (or sometimes for our friend) to ask, to seek, to knock. Then He responds. He always responds!
