Proverbs 8

“Blessed is the person who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. For one who finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the LORD.” Proverbs 8:34-35

Wisdom is the narrator of Proverbs 8. Actually it is Jesus speaking to us in this Proverb. Seeking Jesus’ face every single day is so necessary for a joy-filled, victorious life. The more time we spend with Him, the more intimate and deep our relationship with Him grows. Over time, we learn to recognize His voice and discern His direction. You’ve got to put in the time to get there. There is no shortcut or replacement for time spent alone with God. People who never spend time alone with God don’t know what He sounds like. They may know some things ABOUT God, but they don’t really KNOW God. It is impossible have a close relationship with someone we never spend time with.

Luke 11

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10

This well-known teaching from Jesus is often misunderstood. Jesus isn’t saying that we can ask for anything we want, like a lot of money, or a new car, or some other material thing, and we’ll automatically get it.

In verse 13, He explains, “So if you, despite being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” When Jesus promises that we will find when we seek and receive when we ask, He is talking about the Holy Spirit.

A lot of people would rather get the material goods.

But there is nothing more valuable than the Holy Spirit. This is the most amazing promise. And it is true! I know because I have tested it!

The more time you spend seeking Jesus in prayer and in His Holy Word, the more of Him you will get. He will reveal Himself to you and open up your mind to understand Him. But you’ve got to spend that time with Him. Carve time out of your too busy life for Him every single day. Guard that time. Be jealous of it. Don’t stop seeking, knocking, asking for more of God! More Holy Spirit! More fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self control. More wisdom! These are the most valuable gifts that anyone could receive. And they are PROMISED if we only ask!

Deuteronomy 4

“…you will see the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29

If we seek God, He WILL reveal Himself to us. He promises us through Moses, in Deuteronomy 4; He promises us this in Proverbs 8; and Jesus also promises us this in Luke 11. This is the main theme of the entire Bible from beginning to end. Seek God and you WILL find Him!!! THIS is the GOOD NEWS!
