It all comes down to our attitude. Two people might behave identically but one is motivated by law and the other by freedom. The first person is trying as hard as they can to do all the right things and obey all the rules using their own willpower. We just can’t do it. Perfection for us wicked, stupid humans is impossible. That is the whole point. It was the point of the 10 Commandments and the Mosaic Law. It was the point of the whole Old Testament. It was the point of the Sermon on the Mount. God knew when he dictated his laws to Moses that the Israelites could never measure up. 40 days is all it took. 40 days it rained and flooded the entire earth fifteen cubits higher than the tallest mountain. 40 days it took to kill every air-breathing living thing on the entire earth except for those safely tucked inside the ark. 40 days Jesus fasted to prepare for his meeting with the current administrator of this planet. Meditative prayer is one of the most powerful ways to seek God’s presence. It has profoundly changed my life. I invite you to explore meditative prayer with me along with reading through the Bible in a year. I’ll be posting reflections from my daily meditations, Scripture readings, and weekly videos on my Facebook Page. Daily Bible readings include an Old Testament and New Testament reading plus a Psalm or Proverb. Today’s the day… New Year’s Day! #BeStill

Even the rocks are filled with ever changing life. Only the most magnificent God could create all of this from nothing. Woods are my worship. And my worship is simply to be astounded at how awesome is our God.

After lunch we decide to take a photo walk through the conservation area next to our property. The walk there is a shadeless section of the old log road that runs by our cabin. It is a messy mix of sticky mud, hard red clay, large rocks, and huge gulleys where the rain has washed it away. The road is difficult to walk on; the gravel shifts and slides under our heavy muck boots.
