God really IS our righteous judge whether we like it or not. He says it about Himself. It is true. Trying to ignore this uncomfortable fact doesn’t make it go away, it just makes us wrong. Fortunately He is all those wonderful things too! There is a time and season to focus on each side. There is always this divine tension between God’s grace/mercy/love and His righteous judgment. Part of our journey in this life is to find our balance between these two sides of God.

The Tower of Babel wasn’t just something that happened a long time ago. We humans are ALWAYS building our own Towers of Babel — piling up our bricks of pride and wickedness, attempting to push God aside and get to heaven ourselves.

Creation itself reveals the existence of God. Paul says that because of this, humans are “without excuse” for not seeking to know the God of the universe. There is more to the story, of course. A flower can’t really tell you details about Jesus. But I know my God, and whenever someone seeks Him, He REVEALS Himself, somehow, some way. He is more than capable of delivering His message to the seeker. We just have to SEEK!

What does your soul yearn for? What are you passionate about? Is it God? It can be. Your relationship with God can be the most precious, meaningful part of your life. True relationship with God is like no other relationship. It is communion with the Almighty God who is powerful enough to create the entire universe out of nothing, yet knows each one of us personally, loves each of us intimately. How is that even possible? It is true! It is the most fantastic miracle!

We find ourselves in a similar place today. We have forgotten about God. Very few people worship Him, and even fewer have any knowledge of what His holy Scriptures say. We have not taught our children about truth. God’s message to Josiah through the prophetess Huldah is also relevant to us today. I do believe God’s judgment is coming and He is “going to bring disaster on this place and its people.” (v.16)

But God’s timing is not our timing. These ‘gods’ that rule this world “know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness.” (v.5) They “will die like mere mortals;” and “fall like every other ruler.” (v.7) Only God’s reign lasts for all eternity. Only God is LORD over ALL.

To outsiders, those without the Holy Spirit’s pull, our belief in Jesus makes no sense. We can only understand Jesus when the Holy Spirit enlightens our minds to understand. Others, like King Agrippa, are being drawn by the Holy Spirit. God is calling them, waking them up. They feel it in their souls, this hunger to know more about God.

When I was ten years old, I had a prophetic dream that I believe describes what is happening to us today. I knew it was important when I had this dream as a child almost 45 years ago.
