SANCTIFICATION is the process of losing yourself within Jesus Christ… becoming less of YOU, your personal dreams and goals and desires, to follow JESUS, His plan and will for your life.
Our culture recoils at this idea.
Our culture teaches us the opposite of this. Our culture teaches us that WE are the most important, not Jesus. Our culture teaches us to worship our own personal dreams, goals, and desires, not Jesus. Sadly, many churches today teach the very same message…
But that is a way of death.
Why? Because it makes a god of OURSELVES. And we are terrible gods. Without the saving work of Jesus Christ, we are nothing. Without Jesus, we are just as dumb, ridiculous and impotent as the wooden statues people used to worship in ancient times.
