EXERCISE
(20 minutes)

When I want to add music to my meditation time, I love to use what is called “soaking music,” wordless worship music that is relaxing and uplifting. I prefer wordless music for meditative prayer because it allows me to empty my thoughts and rest in the presence of the Holy Spirit without any interrupting ideas.

Below are some wonderful soaking music videos from the Soaking Into Heavenly Sounds YouTube channel. Most of the videos are several hours long without commercial interruption (after the initial advertisement before the video).

For today’s meditation, please select one of the videos below (or select another song that you like, if you prefer) and begin the video. Set the volume as loud or as quiet as you prefer. Sometimes I like to listen with earbuds and turn up the volume so that the music saturates my entire body. Other times I prefer the music quietly playing in the background. After you skip the initial ad, set your timer for 20 minutes and let’s begin!

Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Empty your mind of everything but the sound of the music. Notice all the levels of the music. Begin at the top with the first sounds you hear and then dive down deeper. Are there quieter melodies and harmonies below the louder sounds? How deeply can you dive into the music?

Let the music fill your spirit and wash through you. Feel the soul tingling sensation we practiced in our first day’s meditation exercise during week 1. Let the tingling feeling push the music even deeper into your spirit… down to the tips of your fingers and toes. Enjoy this feeling for a few moments.

Invite the Holy Spirit to enter into this peaceful place with you and just sit with you for the rest of your meditation time. Feel His sweet presence beside you, within you, embracing you and filling your soul. Continue to breathe slowly and deeply. Rest.
