READ THROUGH THE BIBLE WITH ME IN 2024
Let me talk to you about the Bible. Give me five minutes. Have you ever tried to read it? Think it’s boring? Too difficult to understand?
Alright I’m not gonna lie… there are some boring sections… all those begats… all the laws in Leviticus… Job’s friends blathering on and on for 40 chapters…
But there’s so much more! Reading through Genesis is like reading an adventure novel! And the story of King David? Joseph? Daniel? Esther? Moses? They were superheroes! The gospels about the life of Jesus are simply amazing. The Psalms, Song of Solomon, are filled with beautiful poetry. And all the words of the Old Testament prophets and Revelation? We are watching some of those prophecies unfold all around us right now.
I read through the Bible every single year. I don’t even remember how many times I’ve read it cover to cover. And still, every single time I read it, I am changed for the better in some profound way. Every single time I find new amazing truths that I never noticed before.
This is God’s letter to us. It’s a really long one… takes a while to read. But still, God… GOD wrote a letter to us! It is a very big deal. There is no other book remotely like it in all the world. God divinely inspired over 40 people from diverse backgrounds and places, over the course of 1500 years to write the words contained in this book. Then He miraculously protected it and arranged to have all these writings assembled into one book that comes down to us today 3500 years after the writing of it began. Yet this extraordinary book written by so many different writers over so many years, points to one single theme throughout the entire book, one singular message… and that is Jesus Christ. The Bible is an incredible, supernatural, astounding book. And if you are a follower of Jesus, you really should know what it says. You should at least TRY to read it.
Today, it is easier than ever to get into the Bible. There are so many free tools on your little smart phones that you carry around with you all the time. The Words of God are always right there at your fingertips. I use this app called YouVersion. There are thousands of Bible reading plans in here about hundreds of topics ranging from a few days to a week up to read through the Bible in a year which is what I am inviting you to do with me in 2024.
Let’s read through the Bible together next year. We’ll go through this amazing journey together using the YouVersion app. There are hundreds of Read Through the Bible plans and I have found a very good one that I think you’re going to really like. First of all, it’s chronological so you read through the Bible in the order that the events actually took place. See if you start the Bible at the beginning of Genesis and then read through to the end of Revelation, it skips around a lot and it’s easy to kinda get lost. But I’ve done a chronological read through the Bible before and it is so much easier to read that way… it reads much more like a novel. Plus this one, includes these great little videos that explain what you are reading in such a fun, easy to understand way. It’s called “The FULL Story – From Beginning to Amen.”

Each daily reading and video takes about 15 to 20 minutes. But you can go at your own pace. And don’t worry… it’s okay if you get behind. Nobody’s going to judge you. A little is better than nothing. This is a great introduction to reading through the Bible. Just try it!
