Satan in his Original Glory: 'Thou wast Perfect till Iniquity was Found in Thee' c.1805 William Blake 1757-1827 Presented by the executors of W. Graham Robertson through the Art Fund 1949 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/work/N05892

Satan will change his tactics to match where we are. He knows our weaknesses.

People who aren’t following Jesus and are living for themselves, Satan can easily tempt with all kinds of wickedness.

But when we ARE in love with Jesus, seeking Him, and committed to following Him, Satan doesn’t usually bother with those obvious temptations. We’ll see right through those. But he doesn’t give up and go away. He just changes his strategy.

Remember that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. He will dangle things in front of us that look like good things, things that could really be helpful, things that could bring glory to God IF we are being directed by GOD to do them. But if those things are outside of God’s plan for us, then it doesn’t matter how good those things sound — if we head off in that wrong direction outside of God’s plan for us, no matter how good our intentions are, God is not going to bless it. And there will likely be negative consequences.

This is NOT something to be afraid of though. It is something to be AWARE of.

That is why we pray fervently for GOD’S direction. That is why we pray every day “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

It is so important to understand that WE, by ourselves, are not smart enough to always recognize the enemy. Only GOD can do that. So we must seek Him with our entire hearts, souls, and minds. We must trust in His guidance — not our own emotions, brains or strength — to recognize the plans of Satan.
